Whether it is on-board vehicles, in remote or portable applications, MoD's around the world are becoming increasingly reliant on deep-cycle, lead acid batteries for powering their missions. It's absolutely essential therefore that they are able to monitor those batteries sucessfully, identifying exactly how much power they have available to them at any point in time.
With this is mind, Merlin our proud to introduce our DataCell battery monitors.
Designed to the harshest of military standards for environmental performance, these products represent a breakthrough for users, who have previously had to rely on lesuire orientated products that do not meet their needs.
DataCell I (CPU)
A DataCell consists of a rugged CPU which will interface both with an LCD / LED remote display panel or a PC. When connected to a PC, DataCell's windows based software can be used to monitor batteries real time and also for data logging to Excel. This can be extremely useful in its own right for testing systems to identify how deeply batteries can be regularly discharged to, how long systems will run for (silent watch) and where alarm levels need to be set to protect them from being flattened and damaged.
DataCell I
There are two DataCell monitors in the range. DataCell I will display:
- Voltage
- State of charge (% of energy remaining)
DataCell II
Additional features to DataCell I include:
- State of health (% remaining)
- Net charge / discharge current in amps
- Time remaining
- Temperature
DataCell II (CPU)
Both units use our proven and unique algorithms for calculating SoC (and now state of health) using mathmatical models for 'actively mapping batteries' during charging and discharging. This eliminates problems usually experienced with other monitors quickly drifting out of syncronisation with batteries - ultimately rendering readings inaccurate. Both units can also monitor up to four separate battery banks simultaneously!
Multiple alarms can be set within DataCell software to alert the user to low voltages, states of charge, health etc.
Tactical Computer Interface
Both DataCells can be used to supply raw data either to tactical computers for graphical display on-board or to HUMS systems for recording.
