Powernet - Digital Electrical System (Marine market)
Powernet is the latest generation digital electrical system.
Unlike conventional systems which have large switch panels and complex wiring looms, Powernet switches loads on and off locally - all via data cables. Not only does this remove heavy, difficult to install cabling but also allows functionality only dreamed of until now.
- Significantly reduces the time and cost of electrical system installation
- Only a DC and AC ring main (plus communications cable) is run through the boat
- Powernet is completely expandable and customisable for any size vessel
- Programmed via windows based software
- LCD screens - provide status information for any DC or AC circuit on-board
- Fault protection - automatic protection against short circuits and overload
- Voice alert - Powernet provides audible welcome, fault and status alerts
- Welcome mode - boarding lights, saloon and deck lights can be switched on remotely
- Load shedding - automatic shedding of non-essential loads before batteries run flat
- Operating modes - for example nav mode, night mode or entertaining mode - several electrical loads controlled by one switch
Powernet exists as a working product now for boat builders. By the Marine Equipment Trade Show in Amsterdam in November 2008, it will have evolved even further as a clear market leader.

Our PowerCentre product - a lightweight portable power source for our police, broadcast and security agency customers is a perfect example of new technology in action.
PowerCentre allows you to run DC powered appliances - anywhere. From wilderness to urban environments, PowerCentre will operate a myriad of gear - meaning that you don't need to carry spare 12V batteries or chargers for each device.
PowerCentre is unique and brings massive benefits over other battery packs:

Merlin also manufacturers custom PowerCentre products for different applications. For example we can supply 24V DC systems, different battery capacities and also in-built inverters - allowing the use of mains operated appliances in the field.
